Richard Hatch, who won $1 million on the first season of "Survivor," is returning to prison for parole violation, officials said.

Hatch, now appearing on NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice" with Donald Trump, served time in prison for not paying taxes on his "Survivor" winnings. A condition of his parole is that he repay the IRS.

Hatch told U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith in Providence Friday he was working with the Internal Revenue Service to resolve tax problems and returning to prison would make it impossible for him to repay the government, the Providence (R.I.) Journal reported.

"As far as I can tell, you've made no effort to put any money into the government's coffers," Smith said in ordering Hatch to surrender to authorities Monday and serve nine more months in federal prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Reich said Hatch has criticized prosecutors and judges and said he was convicted of evading taxes because he is gay, the newspaper said.

He said Hatch is "totally untruthful" and has a "total lack of remorse and total lack of acceptance of responsibility for his conduct."

Hatch owes the government about $2 million in taxes and penalties.

Hatch said he would appeal the ruling, which would to leave unavailable to participate in "The Celebrity Apprentice's" live finale in May.
