Former seventh-season American Idol finalist Michael Johns is reportedly set to drop his first post-Idol album in June.

The album will be released through Downtown Records and be called Hold Back My Heart, OK! Weekly reported Thursday.

"It's a rock and soul record," Johns told OK! while attending a private Seal concert in Westwood, CA on Tuesday. "We stripped it down so that it sounds like Otis Redding."

Johns made it to the Top 7 of Idol's seventh season before his surprising elimination following the Idol Gives Back charity event. Following his ouster, even the usually stern judge Simon Cowell expressed regret that Johns was leaving the competition so early.

"Based on the performance Michael, I think you knew it wasn't the right song. You have to learn a lesson from this," Cowell said after Michaels' elimination was announced. "But I'm going to miss you. You're a very, very good singer."

Now approaching the one year anniversary of his elimination, Johns admitted to being thrown by his elimination for the Fox reality competition, but seemed to have few regrets about the direction his life had taken him since.

"I was bummed at the time when I got kicked off Idol, but now I'm just so happy," he told OK!  "My wife and I are doing well [now that Idol is over]."
