People reported on a statement by a representative of the former Black Sabbath frontman stating that he had been engaged in a six-year battle with sex addiction.

"Over the last six years, Ozzy Osbourne has been dealing with a sex addiction," the representative said.

He also commented on how his addiction affected his family as well as his relationship with his wife, Sharon Osbourne.

"Ozzy is mortified at what his behavior has done to his family. He thanks God that his incredible wife, Sharon, is at his side to support him," the representative said.

The couple separated as the result of Osbourne's reported four-year affair with his former hair colorist Michelle Pugh, but said their relationship was "back on track" in July.

Pugh told People she did not believe Osbourne to be a sex addict and said the two knew each other professionally for a year before becoming romantically involved.

In his statement, Osbourne's representative said he denied that their relationship was anything more than sexual.

"He is sorry if Ms. Pugh took their sexual relationship out of context," the statement said. "He would like to apologize to the other women he has been having sexual relationships with. Out of the bad comes good. Since his relationship with Ms. Pugh was exposed, Ozzy has gone into intense therapy."
