New 'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi confirms she's engaged

It's been a busy month for new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi.

DioGuardi, the 38-year-old songwriter who made her Idol debut on last night's premiere of the show's eighth season, has confirmed that she got engaged to boyfriend Mike McCuddy last month.
"Kara DioGuardi and former schoolteacher-turned-general contractor Mike McCuddy were engaged on December 8 while on holiday in Mexico," a representative for DioGuardi told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday. "No wedding date has been planned."
In addition to becoming a wife, DioGuardi will also be becoming a stepmother as the 34-year-old McCuddy has a daughter from from a previous relationship, according to the New York Times.
Prior to Tuesday, DioGuardi had dodged attempts to confirm the engagement
"Thank you.. this year is going to be an interesting year, we'll see... [but] I can neither confirm or deny any of those things," DioGuardi had told an In Touch Weekly reporter who had attempted to congratulate DioGuardi on the engagement and ask about her wedding plans during a media conference call with reporters last Thursday.
