Similar to The Biggest Loser's last three editions, the reality weight-loss series eighth installment will consist of two-hour episodes throughout its broadcast run.

NBC began casting for The Biggest Loser's eighth season in January, and it will be the first edition to feature a single-contestant format since the show's Fall 2007 fourth season.

"We're going back to singles and contemplating doing something really unique," executive producer J.D. Roth told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year.

"We're going to study fattest cities in America, we're going to try to cast in those cities and add things into those cities to help them change their ways and to get off that list."

The Biggest Loser will switch back to a pairs format after this fall's edition.

Earlier this month, NBC announced that the show's ninth season -- which will begin a casting tour this week and is currently slated to debut early next year -- will be a The Biggest Loser: Families edition which will feature pairs of family members such as parent and child, couples and siblings teams.
