Nashville Star's sixth-season casting tour will kick-off February 9 in Milwaukee and Pittsburgh before continuing throughout the month and making additional stops in Charlotte, Kansas City, Tallahassee, Denver, New Orleans and Portland.

For the first time in Nashville Star's history, the competition will be open to duets and trios as well as solo artists.  In addition, Nashville Star's minimum age requirement has been lowered from 18- to 16-years-old for the upcoming installment. (Applicants must be 16 or older as of March 29, 2008.)

Interested applicants who attend auditions will be required to perform a song off an approved song list, and a select few of the most talented will be asked to perform additional material for producers.  Applicants should be prepared to sing two cover songs from the approved song list or one song off the list and one original song.

Nashville Star's Summer 2008 sixth-season is scheduled to air on NBC prior to the network's coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, which will commence August 8.  Nashville Star first premiered on USA -- which is owned by NBC Universal -- in March 2003 and subsequently aired four more annual installments.
