MTV planning 'Grease'-like 'Legally Blonde' Broadway lead reality show

Grease was the word for NBC, and now MTV is apparently going Legally Blonde.
An MTV casting representative has confirmed the network will be holding auditions for an upcoming Grease: You're the One that I Want-like reality show that will aim to find an actress to take over the lead in Broadway's Legally Blonde production, Playbillreported Monday.
An Orlando Sentinel blog announced the city's Shakespeare Theater will be holding an open-casting call on January 21 for the reality show, which according to Playbill is seeking actresses 18 and over with strong acting, vocal and dancing skills to compete for the role of Elle Woods in the musical.
The casting notice claims filming for the show will commence in March and last four weeks, Playbill reported.
MTV aired a performance of Broadway's Legally Blonde in its entirety last October, and the broadcast also featured behind-the-scenes footage, a pre-show, and a red carpet-like event hosted by The Hills co-stars Lauren "L.C." Conrad, Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.
Laura Bell Bundy currently plays the role of Woods in Legally Blonde and received a Tony nod for the musical adaptation of the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon.
NBC's Winter 2007 Grease: You're the One that I Want reality competition series searched for the lead roles of Sandy Dumbrowski and Danny Zuko in a Broadway revival of Grease.
Home viewer votes selected Laura Osnes and Max Crumm to play the lead roles during the show's March finale broadcast and the revival opened in August amongst criticism that Crumm and Osnes were not the favorites of some theater goers.
