NBC got a dominating time-period debut out of “Meet My Folks” last night, as the hit relationship show scored NBC’s second-highest adult 18-49 rating in the Saturday, 10-11 p.m. slot since July 13, 2002.
“Meet My Folks” led the hour among adults 18-49 by a convincing 28 percent margin and built its 18-49 rating by 24 percent from its first half-hour to its second. That gave “Folks” the highest 18-49 rating for any Saturday prime-time telecast.
According to preliminary “fast affiliate” in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, the regular-slot season premiere of “Meet My Folks” (3.7 rating, 11 share among adults 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) led its hour in all key adult and adult-female demographics and total viewers. Compared with NBC’s season-to-date 18-49 average for that hour, “Folks” generated a 32 percent increase (with a 3.7 rating vs. a 2.8). And compared with its lead-in rating, “Folks” built by a stellar 54 percent (3.7 vs. 2.4).
It’s the third convincing time-period win of the week for “Folks,” which also ruled all competition with special preview episodes Monday at 10 p.m. ET (6.7/16 among adults 18-49, 13.6 million viewers overall) and Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET (5.6/14 among adults 18-49, 10.9 million viewers overall). The Monday preview earned NBC’s highest non-sports 18-49 rating in that hour since May 3, 1999 and the Tuesday telecast matched NBC’s highest non-sports adult 18-49 rating in that slot since Oct. 2, 2001.
