Kim Kardashian's divorce filing was apparently news to husband Kris Humphries.
"I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce... I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
Kardashian confirmed she filed for divorce from Humphries -- her husband of 72 days -- on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and October 31 as the couple's separation date, E! News reported. "After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage," the Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kourtney and Kim Take New York star said in a media statement released Monday. "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best." According to TMZ, Kardashian struggled all weekend with the idea of whether to go through with the divorce, crying and repeatedly changing her mind until she made her final decision Sunday night. The final straw for the reality TV star was reportedly when she discovered Humphries had hired a Hollywood publicist. "He's not in f**king Hollywood. He plays sports," Kardashian told a friend of the New Jersey Nets star, TMZ reported. Kardashian and Humphries got engaged in May after six months of dating and then wed in late August in front of 450 guests at a private estate in Montecito, CA. (Photo credit E!)
