Bachelor in Paradise fans have been rooting for DeWindt and Waddell to make it -- more so than any other couple in Paradise -- but things are going to come crashing down in next week's finale, Us Weekly reported.

DeWindt and Waddell were hitched from Day 1 in Paradise and seemed completely smitten with each other. Although they were both committed the whole way through, DeWindt approached their relationship more hesitantly as Waddell progressed the romance full speed ahead with excitement and confidence.

"Carly said she thought she'd found her soul mate and was talking about having babies with him," a show insider told Us. "But Kirk totally blindsided her and said he was far from being on the same page... Carly was totally shocked when Kirk broke up with her. She's still very upset."

The pair only dated for five weeks, but in Paradise, that probably felt like a lifetime. They spent every day and night together, and in Week 3, they enjoyed a fantasy-suite date during which it became pretty clear they had sex.

When DeWindt, 31, shocked Waddell with his decision to split, the fourth runner-up from Chris Soules' The Bachelor season "ran away mid-conversation in tears," according to the show insider. "She said she just wanted to go home."

The breakup not only stunned Waddell, 29, it also caught their mutual friends in Paradise completely off-guard.

"It was so dramatic and real," a source close to the couple added.

During a recent episode, Waddell said in a confessional she had met her husband in Paradise. She gushed about how she was "the luckiest freaking person on this planet" to win DeWindt's heart and keep it.

Bachelor in Paradise host Chris Harrison already alluded to the fact one of this season's couples wouldn't last.

"There's heartbreak and devastation, but at the end of the day, there is a whole lot of love," Harrison wrote in his Yahoo! TV blog this week.

The finale of Bachelor in Paradise airs Sunday, September 6 and Monday, September 7 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
