Kellie Pickler has agreed to be a New York Times Square correspondent for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2009," ABC said Wednesday.

The country music star was a contestant on "American Idol," the singing competition television series of which Seacrest is host.
Pickler is to assume her ABC correspondent duties Dec. 31.
