Bristowe, a 30-year-old former dance instructor, is currently starring on The Bachelorette's eleventh season after the majority of 25 suitors voted for her to fill the role instead of Britt Nilsson.

So when People asked Bristowe if she's happy with the season's outcome in its June 1 issue, the Bachelorette replied, "I'm always happy. But it was not what I thought it would be."

Bristowe apparently didn't set her expectations very high going into filming although she remained optimistic throughout.

"I didn't want to force anything or feel like I had to get engaged," she admitted. "But I was just hopeful through the whole thing."

During a conference call earlier this month that took place before The Bachelorette premiered, reporters asked Bristowe the same question about whether she's pleased with how the season turned out.

"I think it went the way it should," Bristowe said simply.

Bristowe's season has basically just begun yet there's already drama. Not only has she kissed a lot of guys already, previews for future episodes show she had sex with one of her bachelors prior to the fantasy-suite overnight dates.

"I'm going to take a lot of heat for the kissing. I think I broke a record. My mindset was, 'Damn right, I'm going to kiss everybody!' I'm trying to find a husband here!" Bristowe said, defending herself.

"People saw me as this edgy Canadian who says what I'm thinking, and that's definitely who I am... I had to act more like a lady than I am."

As for what she looks for in a guy, Bristowe's description is pretty specific and concise.

"Athletic. Big personality. Sense of humor. Nonsmokers who want kids," she noted.

"But I don't want the 'dad bod' everyone is crazy about right now. It's this thing that's totally in right now! You're not totally cut, so you've got a bit of a dad bod. But I'm like, 'No. You can go to the gym!' And I'm all about big butts. Big, muscly butts. As along as they do squats, I'm happy."

While she's a strong-willed girl whom one guy even called "a badass" on the show, Bristowe confessed The Bachelorette process was still difficult for her.

"I had a couple [hard goodbyes]. I call it 'the Bachelorette Meltdown.' I realized how sensitive I am. I thought I was a tough girl -- it's harder than I thought," the show's star explained.
