Hough issued an apology on Twitter after dressing up as "Crazy Eyes," a female character played by Uzo Aduba in the Netflix drama Orange Is the New Black, for a Friday Halloween party in Beverly Hills, CA.

"I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," the actress and former Dancing with the Stars pro tweeted Saturday after people began complaining.

Hough's outfit featured a painted-on black face, orange jumpsuit, prison identification tag, and knotted hair on the top of her head, Us Weekly reported.

"It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize," added Hough.

Hough, 25, dressed up as a character from the show along with six of her girlfriends, who also reportedly wore inmate ensembles.

Hough's ex-boyfriend Ryan Seacrest, 38, was also at the Halloween party, according to Us. The pair allegedly split about six months ago after dating for nearly three years. Hough and the American Idol host confirmed their relationship in late 2010 after dodging questions for months.

"They were laughing and catching up and seemed cordial," a source told the magazine.

Hough just recently served as a guest judge on Dancing with the Stars' currently-airing seventeenth season.
