"These allegations are false and just plain hurtful," Gosselin said in a Wednesday media statement issued in response to Us Weekly's new cover story in which Deanna's brother Jason Hummel told the magazine its earlier report was correct and he can confirm the pair have been having an affair for the past few months.

"As I adjust to the attention that comes from being in the public eye, I need to be more careful and aware of who I am associating with and where I am spending my time," Gosselin continued. "But the bottom line is, I did not cheat on Kate. I am sorry for putting my family in this awkward position, given some poor decisions and bad judgments I've made recently.  I'm working through this difficult time with my family.  My family is my top priority."

Deanna, a 23-year-old third-grade teacher who lives in the same Wernersville, PA area as the Gosselin family, had previously denied her brother's claims in the separate Wednesday statement to People magazine.

"My brother is making this all up.  He has no credibility," she told People.  "I can't even stomach the lies he's saying about me."

Jason is allegedly one of five people "close to the situation" who have recently told Us Weekly that that the pair have been having an affair for the past few months, according to a cover story report published in the magazine's May 18 issue.

In addition to Jason and the four other sources, Us Weekly has also released video footage that allegedly shows Gosselin "sneaking" out of Deanna's Reading, PA home after spending the night on March 13.

Both Deanna and Gosselin, as well as their friends, have previously denied Us Weekly's earlier report that they are in a romantic relationship.

"My brother is very shady," she told People. "He has no job. He has a criminal background. He was charged for drug distribution. He's on probation right now."

Jason claimed that Deanna and Gosselin met in mid-January before Gosselin began "relentlessly pursuing" his younger sister and subsequently began making routine visits to the house the two siblings share.

Deanna alleges the soon-to-be-former roommate is probably the reason behind Jason's allegations.

"He wanted to get back at me," she told People.  "He knows he's getting kicked out of the house."

In addition to Deanna characterizing Jason's claim that he has overheard the two having sex as "completely crazy," she also wasn't too pleased by the fact he identified her as a third-grade teacher.

"I'm so hurt that he put my occupation out there. He has put my job in jeopardy," she told People.  "I can't take my kids to recess without worrying that people will come up and harass me and the other teachers. It's not fair."

Gosselin was first spotted with Deanna on April 18 when the two were photographed leaving Legends Lounge in the same vehicle during the early morning hours.  At the time, Gosselin's wife Kate was across the country in Bellevue, WA promoting her new book, "Eight Little Faces: A Mom's Journey."
