Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's split apparently may have been an elaborate publicity stunt after all.

Montag has withdrawn her divorce filing and reconciled with husband Pratt following a month-long excursion to Costa Rica.

"We are back together trying to make things work," the former The Hills stars told People on Thursday. "Costa Rica really put things in perspective. We do love each other and realized we do want to spend the rest of our lives together."

Montag attorney's attorney completed the dismissal paperwork on Monday and filed it with the court yesterday, according to court documents obtained by People.

"After spending time together over these past several months Heidi and Spencer have decided to reconcile," Montag attorney Jodeane Farrell told People.

Montag had filed for divorce from Pratt in late July -- two months after they had split in what many had believed was just the couple's latest publicity stunt.

Montag had filed for legal separation from Pratt in June, however the fact she had not filed divorce papers had caused many -- including their family and former The Hills castmates -- to continue speculating the filing was just the couple's latest move in an elaborate attempt to get back in the spotlight after they were dropped from the final episodes of the MTV reality series, which aired its series finale in July.

Following Montag's divorce filing, the couple spent the next couple of weeks sparring in the press after Pratt first claimed he was going to write a tell-all book about his relationship with Montag and then boasted that he was shopping a sex tape of her.

However Montag and Pratt were spotted at a Costa Rican resort together in August -- resulting in Pratt claiming the couple had traveled to the country (which they had visited while briefly competing on NBC's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! jungle-set reality competition last summer) so that he could show Montag he could give up his fixation with fame by surviving alone in the jungle for a month while she stayed at a nearby villa.

Pratt and Montag ended up getting detained for arms possession when they tried to fly home with two unloaded handguns in their luggage earlier this month.

"As far as I'm concerned the last thing in the world after everything we have just been through is to go through with this divorce," Montag told The Associated Press afterwards. "But we are just taking life second by second."

Reports of the couple's split had first surfaced in late May after Montag had moved out of their home less than two months after she had vehemently denied the accuracy of a sixth-season The Hills promotional trailer that had shown her suggesting she was going to divorce Pratt, whom she married in April 2009.
