Fox announced it has ordered Our Little Genius, a new Mark Burnett-produced game show that will challenge child geniuses with difficult questions for an opportunity to win "life-changing money" for their families.

"In television, we often showcase kids who are incredible singers, actors or dancers, so it's high time we give the spotlight to kids with incredible brains," said Fox reality chief Mike Darnell.

"The kids on this show are ridiculously smart, and with its unique appeal to both parents and children alike, I think Our Little Genius is one of Mark Burnett's most compelling creations yet."

Our Little Genius will follow a child from 6- to 12-years-old as they answer increasingly difficult questions in their area of expertise in an attempt to win their family hundreds of thousands of dollars.

However the child's parents can stop the game at any time and instead choose to walk away with the winnings up to that point. To help aid the adults' decision, they will be allowed to check with a panel of experts including professors, doctors and scientists.

"I am completely astounded by the level of knowledge I have seen from these genius kids," said Burnett.

"It is truly astonishing to watch adult experts in the same field of knowledge shaking their heads in disbelief at the level of brainpower these young children have. Genius kids often get ridiculed for their brilliance. Finally, here's a show that celebrates their true talents."

Our Little Genius' host will announced soon.

The series is being produced by Zoo Production, with Burnett, Barry Poznick and John Stevens -- the same producers behind Fox's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? game show, which premiered in February 2007 -- serving as its executive producers.
