HGTV has announced Christina will star in Christina on the Coast, a new reality series that will follow Christina as she expands her design business in Southern California.

"Christina's design style is very popular, so it's a natural progression for us to expand her visibility with a new series," HGTV president Allison Page said.

"Her fans also are deeply vested in her personal life and eager to see 'what happens next' - so we're bringing them the opportunity to share in these real-life moments in a way that no one else can."

Christina's ex-husband and Flip or Flop co-star Tarek El Moussa is also in discussions to develop a potential new series with HGTV, according to the network.

Christina on the Coast's eight-episode season will feature Christina transforming clients' outdated properties into high-end showplaces while also showing her personal journey after her split with husband Tarek.

Along the way, viewers will see Christina search for the perfect new home to start fresh while also balancing parenthood, her career, and her new relationship with British TV host and car mechanic Ant Anstead.

"The past few years have brought a lot of change into my life and I am so excited to see what the next stage has in store for me both professionally and personally, there is so much to look forward to and this is only the beginning," said Christina in a HGTV statement.

"Design is my favorite part of the house-flipping process and I can't wait to be able to now work directly with clients and create a space they've always dreamed of having."

Christina offered some additional details about Christina on the Coast during an appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday.

"It's really excited, I sold my house in Yorba Linda about two months ago, and I closed escrow on a house in Newport Beach last week, so it's actually going to follow me fixing up my own house as well," she said.

"People are going to get to see a little bit more into my personal life... [and] how I'm designing my own house, so that's fun.  I'm also helping eight homeowners fix up their house."

"I actually had my first shoot day Monday, it was great.  I get to show a little bit more -- more design.  Because in flipping, you want to keep it more streamlined, you want to appeal to the masses, so actually getting to design a house for someone specific is going to be really amazing."

Christina and Tarek finalized their divorce back in January, one year after Tarek initially filed the paperwork in court and cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their seven-year marriage ending.

The HGTV reality stars publicly announced their split in December 2016 although they quietly separated in Spring 2016 after a blowout fight that resulted in police visiting their California home.
