Fox has revealed Fergie, a Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum solo artist, will join The Four: Battle for Stardom's previously-announced music experts Sean "Diddy" Combs, Charlie Walk, DJ Khaled, and Meghan Trainor when the six-episode series premieres Thursday, January 4 at 8PM ET/PT.

"I am very excited and proud to be the host of The Four: Battle for Stardom. This is a unique and modern show format that I believe will set the standard for the next generation of singing competition series on TV," Fergie said in a statement.

"I am looking forward to being by the contestants' sides during what could be the most important performances of their lives. Along with these amazing panelists whom I know and love, I hope my experiences as a solo artist and as a member of The Black Eyed Peas can help guide them in their quest to make it in the music industry."

Fox reality chief Rob Wade called Fergie "a genuine superstar."

"She's fierce, she's a force in her own right and she knows exactly what these singers are going through," Rob explained. "So who better than her to help guide them as they fight their way to the finish."

The Four: Battle for Stardom is based on an overseas format that will begin where many reality singing competitions end: with only four talented finalists in the competition vying for the show's title.

As previously reported, the four finalists will be chosen by the show's judging panel from an initial round of auditions.

The competitors must then attempt to defend their coveted spots on the stage as they are challenged individually by new singers determined to unseat and replace them.

Every time a finalist outperforms a challenger, he or she will move on to the next week of competition and perform again until the season ends.

Challengers can range from fans sitting in the audience to viewers at home who can submit an audition video for the chance to compete.

America will decide which hopefuls will be welcomed on the show by voting for their favorite videos when the auditions are made available and streamed.

In the finale of The Four: Battle for Stardom, the last four singers standing -- who potentially could have survived weeks of cuts -- will face off against each other and perform until only one finalist remains and is crowned the winner.

The winner of The Four: Battle for Stardom will be mentored by the four music-industry experts going forward in his or her career.

The winning artist will also be named an iHeartRadio "On The Verge" artist, which is a program that provides "unparalleled national reach through on-air radio exposure, as well as digital and social support across iHeartMedia's powerful range of music and entertainment platforms," according to Fox.

The Four: Battle for Stardom, which was ordered in Summer 2017, was created by Armoza Formats and produced by ITV Entertainment in association with Armoza Formats.

David George, Adam Sher, David Eilenberg, Becca Walker, David Friedman, Avi Armoza, Nehama Cohen, and Moshiko Cohen are serving as executive producers.
