Donald Trump boasts of 'The Apprentice' celebrity edition participants
By Steve Rogers, 08/20/2007
Truth or Trump, you decide.
A year after falsely boasting that NBC had already ordered a seventh The Apprentice edition, Donald Trump now claims to have signed an "eye-popping list" of celebrities that may include Britney Spears and Paris Hilton to compete in the sagging show's recently announced celebrity-themed seventh edition.
According to Trump, The Apprentice's celebrity edition -- which was announced after a two-month public feud that began with NBC leaving one-time smash-hit but now ratings-challenged reality series off its 2007-2008 schedule and Trump responding by publicly proclaiming that he was "moving on" and quitting the show -- will definitely include Jim Cramer, Carmen Electra, Jeff Gordon, Tony Hawk, Naomi Judd, George Foreman, Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, Danica Patrick, Joan Rivers, Pete Rose, and Kimora Lee Simmons
Spears and Hilton haven't formally committed to participating in the competition, which will feature celebrities competing to raise funds for various charities, however both have expressed interest in being part of the show, according to Trump.
"We're negotiating with Britney right now. Can you imagine her doing it?" Trump toldThe New York Post in a Monday report. "We're not sure what will happen. She's a [bleep]ing mess. And that little [Britney & Kevin: Chaotic] reality show she had [on UPN in 2005] did nothing. But she likes the idea of being on television and I think she'd be great."
"[She also] wants to be on, and we're thinking about it, but I don't know if we're going to do it," Trump added about Hilton, the former star of E!'s recently-canceledThe Simple Life reality series.
In addition to Spears and Hilton, Trump told The Post that he also plans to try and convince troubled young actress Lindsay Lohan -- the third member of what The Post termed "the world's most famous trio of bimbos -- to also participate in the show.
"Another [bleep]ing mess. We haven't asked her yet, but I'm going to call her this week. It would a positive thing for her to do . . . for all of them," Trump boasted to The Post.
If Spears, Hilton and Lohan don't end up committing to the show, Trump claims he'll have no problems finding other interested celebrities. "There are more than a hundred others who want to be on the show," said Trump.
