A&E has canceled Dog the Bounty Hunter after eight seasons, the network confirmed to E! News on Monday.

According to E! News, A&E had originally been planning a ninth season of the long-running reality series, which chronicled the work and personal lives of bail bondsman Duane "Dog" Chapman and his family and crew.

"Prior to A&E making a decision not to renew the series Dog the Bounty Hunter, the parties involved were unable to reach an agreement for the ninth season," Chapman and his wife Beth told E! News in a statement.

The couple also suggested that they may being returning to television in another reality series soon.

"This has been a great ride for eight seasons and we would not be where we are today but for our loyal and dedicated fans. We are about to start a new chapter, and an announcement will be made sooner rather than later. You can't keep a good Dog down," they added.

Dog the Bounty Hunter premiered on A&E in August 2004.
