Discovery Channel has ordered The Detonators, a new reality series that will follow two explosive experts as they offer viewers a behind-the-scenes look at various demolitions, The Hollywood Reporter reported Thursday.

The Detonators will star Braden Lusk and Paul Worsey as they meet explosion experts responsible for the demolition of everything from urban skyscrapers to giant stadiums before explaining the science behind each detonation.

"Through the eyes of these two experts, viewers will really understand this fascinating world of demolition and more importantly how it can actually go wrong," executive producer Charles Tremayne told The Reporter.

Each hour-long episode will focus on two detonations that have something in common, according to The Reporter, which gave the example of Corpus Christi's Harbor Bridge and a set of giant cranes in Liverpool, England -- all of which are made of steel.

"There's a lot more to it than just blowing things up; there's a surgical precision," executive producer Beth Dietrich told The Reporter. "It's so perfect for Discovery because it's kind of 'gee-whiz, I had no idea,' where it looks so easy but it's incredibly complicated."

Discovery Channel ordered 13 episodes of The Detonators, which is currently slated to debut in January.

The Detonators is a co-production of RDF USA and IWC.
