James, a Nickelodeon star and Big Time Rush singer, and Peta were the ninth couple eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' finals after receiving the lowest total of judges' scores and home viewer votes cast following last Monday night's performance show when they had landed in a tie for third place on the judges' leaderboard.

"It's alright. I really had an amazing experience on this show. I enjoyed it more than I ever thought possible, I've made some amazing friends and I'm just grateful for the opportunity. It's been a lot of fun," James said following his ouster.

"I've been so blessed to have him as a partner this season. I couldn't ask for anything more. He was absolutely so amazing. Thank you [James] so much," Peta noted, adding afterwards that she and James "might date when the show's over."

The judges' scores and America's vote from last night's episode will count towards Tuesday night's finale episode.

James and Peta danced a judges' pick performance as well as a freestyle routine before the round of results were revealed, so they earned 59 out of 60 total possible points for their dances from the show's judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Their total score landed them in a tie for second place on the judges' leaderboard out of the four remaining couples.

James and Peta danced a tango which received 29 out of 30 possible points from the judging panel. They also danced a martial arts and krumping-inspired freestyle routine which earned them an additional 30 out of 30 possible points -- a perfect score. The couple tied with double-amputee snowboarding champion Amy Purdy and partner Derek Hough on the leaderboard.

Amy and Derek also received 59 total points on the judges' leaderboard after they danced a salsa routine worthy of a perfect score of 30 points. They then followed it up with their contemporary freestyle, which received 29 points from the judges.

Candace Cameron Bure, an actress and former Full House star, and partner Mark Ballas were also in jeopardy of elimination last night although neither Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron or co-host Erin Andrews revealed whether they were necessarily one of the bottom two couples.

Candace and Mark finished in fourth -- and last place -- on Monday night's leaderboard with an overall score of 51 points. They received 27 points for a quickstep routine and then another 24 points for their disco-inspired freestyle. After suffering a shoulder injury during rehearsal on Sunday, Mark was cleared by doctors to compete.

First place on the leaderboard went to Sochi Olympics ice dancing gold medalist Meryl Davis and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy yet again with 60 total points. The couple performed two individual dances which both received a perfect score of 30 from the judges -- an Argentine tango and then a contemporary freestyle.

During Tuesday night's finale, each celebrity and professional pairing still in the running will perform in one more round of competition to complete their judges' scores from last night. One couple will then be crowned the winners of Dancing with the Stars' eighteenth season.
