Britney Spears' The X Factor addition is reportedly one step closer to becoming reality.

The X Factor has offered the 30-year-old pop singer $10 million to be a member of its second-season judging panel, Deadline Hollywood reported Thursday evening.

Reports that Spears was interested in joining The X Factor creator Simon Cowell and fellow returning judge L.A. Reid on the Fox reality singing competition's judging panel next season had surfaced last month following the announcements of the departures of first-season judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.

While he had initially remained mum about Spears' The X Factor interest, Cowell -- who is reportedly obsessed with landing at least one big-time female judge to compete with the star power on both NBC's upstart hit The Voice and American Idol's revamped judging panel -- had subsequently acknowledged he found the idea very intriguing.

"I'm fascinated by [Britney]. The fact that she's one of the most talked about -- not just pop stars -- but people in the world today, means that you've got this star power," The X Factor creator and lead judge said during an appearance on The Billy Bush Show radio show late last month.

"This girl has got resilience. I would think that if she's managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, [The X Factor would be] a walk in the park."

In addition, Cowell had explained he believed Spears would bring a lot of strong attributes to the table.

"I would be fascinated to hear what she had to say. She's still hot, she's still having hit records and she's still controversial, there's a reason for that," he added.
