A Jive Records spokesperson has confirmed the seventh-season American Idol runner-up has been "released from our roster," The Hollywood Reporter reported Friday.

Rumors of Archuleta's Jive exit reportedly first surfaced on Twitter on Thursday evening and began when the singer's former manager confirmed the news to an inquiring follower, according to Billboard.

While his self-titled 2008 debut album has reportedly sold 765,000 copies and been certified platinum, Archuleta hasn't fared nearly as well with his second studio album.

"The Other Side of Down" has only sold 67,000 copies since its October 2010 release, Billboard reported.

The 20-year-old was defeated by David Cook during American Idol's seventh-season finale and signed with Jive shortly afterwards.
