Jared Blake, a rock singer from Star City, AR; Javier Colon, a pop and soul singer from Stratford, CT; Beverly McClellan, a pop singer from Gate City, VA; and Nakia, a blues singer from Austin, TX; advanced to the competition's live performance rounds after they won their respective "battle" round face-offs against fellow contestants Elenowen, Angela Wolff, Justin Grennan, and Tje Austin.

The contestants squared off in the "battle" round face-offs after The Voice coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton each selected two members of their individual singing teams to perform a duet performance that would end with the coach eliminating one of the singers from the competition.

Jared and Elenowen, a Nashville duo comprised of newlyweds Nicole Johnson and Josh Johnson, were matched-up by Blake and required to sing Marvin Gaye's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

Adam paired Javier and Angela, a rock singer from Nashville, TN, and then had them perform a duet of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me."

Beverly and Justin, an R&B singer from Enumclaw, WA, were selected by Christina and assigned The Who's "Baba O'Riley" for their "battle" round.

Nakia and Tje, an R&B singer from Sweetwater, TX, were paired by Cee Lo and required to perform Ne-Yo's "Closer."

Tuesday night's The Voice broadcast was the second of the competition's four "battle" round episodes.  Last week's initial "battle" round episode featured Vicci Martinez, Patrick Thomas, Casey Weston, and former disqualified American Idol contestant Frenchie Davis advancing to The Voice's live performance shows, which will begin June 7.
