The Biggest Loser host and actress Alison Sweeney has announced she's decided to leave NBC's Days of Our Lives soap opera after starring as Samantha "Sami" Brady for 21 years.

Sweeney, 37, made the announcement that 2014 will be her last year with the NBC soap opera because she'd like to spend more time with her family during a Tuesday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Us Weekly reported.

"My daughter just turned five and my son is nine, and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year," Sweeney reportedly told Ellen DeGeneres, adding there's "no specific time yet" set for her final episode.

"I'm going to be on Days all this year... I'm really just excited to be with my kids and be with my husband and... have fun. And I write -- my second book's coming out and I love directing!"

Sweeney explained that being a wife, mother, Days of Our Lives star, and the host of The Biggest Loser was just getting to be too much.

"I have never had more than a two-week vacation [since I began Days] in that whole time and yeah," Sweeney reportedly said. "It's [been] awesome. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it."

Sweeney joined Days of Our Lives in January 1993 at the age of 16 to play Sami. She also began serving as host of The Biggest Loser in 2007 and has been with the reality weight-loss competition ever since.

While Days of Our Lives writers -- whom Sweeney claimed have "amazing imaginations" -- reportedly have yet to decide what will happen to the character of Sami on the soap opera, the actress revealed she has mixed feelings on the subject.

"I mean, it would be awesome to have some kind of happy ending, but then I also think Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted like Breaking Bad ending, I don't know," Sweeney joked with DeGeneres, according to Us.

"Sami has certainly caused her fair share of drama over the last 21 years. It will be 22 and I don't even know what happens next!"

The Biggest Loser is currently airing its fifteenth season Tuesday nights on NBC.
