The Bachelor star Ben Higgins didn't technically choose the bachelorette he proposed to at the end of his journey, according to an insider.

Ben's mother Amy Higgins selected the woman she believed was most deserving of her son's final rose, Life & Style reported.

"Amy thought one girl would be a better fit. Of course, that's the one he proposed to," the insider told the magazine. "He always thinks she knows best. He asks his mom for advice on everything."

Ben definitely didn't try to hide his close relationship with his parents on the show. During the very first night of filming, the Bachelor called them from outside the mansion to express how he was excited and blown away by his group of bachelorettes.

And when Ben spent a week with six women in his hometown of Warsaw, IN, he met his parents for lunch to have a chat and later introduced them to Emily Ferguson. Amy wasn't a big fan of Emily, as she even cried to Ben about how the Las Vegas native seemed too young. Amy didn't think Emily was ready to be a wife and mother, and Ben ultimately agreed and sent her home.

Ben desperately sought his mother's support and help once he had two bachelorettes left and needed to make a final decision.

"It was obvious to everyone who was there that his mom really made the final decision," the insider said.

The day after Ben popped the question to his leading lady, Amy and her husband David Higgins reportedly celebrated. The married couple posted a picture of themselves toasting wine glasses and smiling on Facebook.

Ben still has Caila Quinn, Joelle "JoJo" Fletcher, Lauren Bushnell and Amanda Stanton in the running for his heart. The Bachelor airs Mondays from 8-10PM ET/PT on ABC.
