The Amazing Race's "Food Scientists" Amy DeJong and Maya Warren survived a non-elimination leg during Friday night's penultimate broadcast of the CBS reality competition's 25th season.

Amy and Maya were not eliminated from the around-the-world competition although they had arrived at the Race's eleventh Pit Stop at Fort San Diego in Manila, Philippines, in last place.

For the first time in The Amazing Race history, the final leg will feature four teams competing for the $1 million grand prize instead of three.

"We never saw this coming, four teams going into the final leg. It's really proven that the Race is unpredictable and it's not over until it's over," Amy said at the conclusion of the leg.

The eleventh episode of The Amazing Race's 25th season began with the Race's four remaining teams leaving the Rice Farm.

"Married Dentists" Misti Raman and Jim Raman departed the tenth Pit Stop in first place at 9:01AM.

Following the dentists were Amy and Maya -- who have yet to win a leg -- at 9:02AM, "Married Surfers" Bethany Hamilton and Adam Dirks at 9:05AM, and then "Dating Pro Wrestlers" Brooke Adams and Robbie E. Strauss at 9:07AM.

The teams' first set of clues instructed them to travel by jeepney to Rajah Sulayman Park where they'd find their next clue.

Amy and Maya and the dentists shared a jeepney and it seemed to take a long time. They also needed to stop for gas. It wasn't long until the two teams realized they were proceeding in the wrong direction.

Adam and Bethany arrived at the park in first place. They were then followed by Brooke and Robbie, Amy and Maya, and Misti and Jim.

It then became time for the teams to complete one of two possible Detour tasks: "This" or "That."

The clues failed to provide any explanation or further instruction for either challenge, so the teams had to blindly pick one or the other in the hopes it wasn't too difficult.

"This" required the teams to shoot hoops while being guarded by a neighborhood team. Once a team earned 21 points, they'd receive their next clue.

"That" required the teams to switch off pedaling and sitting as the passenger in a cart attached to a bike. They had to join local taxi traffic and race four laps around a course in under 17 minutes and 55 seconds to receive their next clue.

Before taking on the Detour, Brooke and Robbie were forced to complete an additional Speed Bump task as a consequence for finishing the prior non-elimination leg in last place.

Brooke and Robbie were instructed to travel to Manila's waterfront and help a local street vendor replace his cart. Once they helped transfer all the driver's goods onto a new cart, they could continue racing with the other teams.

Meanwhile, Adam and Bethany opted to try "This." Brooke and Robbie later attempted the same task as well. Amy and Maya and Misti and Jim took on "That."

Amy could barely steer her bike because of a loose tire and ended up losing control of the cart and crashing into a car. However, she was fine. Misti also had a painful cut on the bottom of her foot so she struggled to pedal the bike.

As far as the basketball task went, Brooke and Adam found their way around the court easily and nailed many shots quickly.

Adam and Bethany finished their Detour task before any of the other teams. They were soon followed by Brooke and Robbie, Amy and Maya, and finally Misti and Jim.

The teams then received their next set of clues and learned they must make their way to Divisoria Market and search for their marked jeepney.

Adam and Bethany lost their clue so they tried to work off memory. They remembered one of the two streets that intersected at where the market was located. But after wasting some time wandering around, they eventually found their clue.

Brooke and Robbie therefore arrived at the market in first place. Following closely on their heels were Misti and Jim, Adam and Bethany, and Amy and Maya.

One member from each team then had to complete a Roadblock task.

For the Roadblock, the Racers were required to pick up and then deliver two popular coconut products to three different shops. Once all the shops received their bulky and heavy items, the teams would receive their next clue.

Robbie opted to take on the task, and he was soon joined by Adam, Jim and Amy.

Robbie started walking around with his products without reading the posted locations. He didn't know where to go or how many items to bring to each location. He realized his mistake before it was too late.

Amy really struggled with the task because she was clearly overheated, exhausted and dehydrated. It proved to be too much for her but she still didn't quit.

Brooke and Robbie finished the Roadblock in first place. They were then followed by Adam and Bethany, Misti and Jim, and finally Amy and Maya.

The teams' next set of clues instructed them to proceed to the Pit Stop at Fort San Diego.

Brooke and Robbie stepped on the Pit Stop mat and met The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan in first place.

Phil told the wrestlers to keep racing, as the final leg started immediately. Their clue instructed them to fly to their final destination of Los Angeles, CA, dubbed "the City of Angels." Brooke and Robbie were also given a Manila enveloped and told not to open it.

Adam and Bethany soon arrived in second place, and then Misti and Jim secured third place.

Amy and Maya were then greeted by Phil and learned they had finished in fourth. They knew they were in last place and were very sad, but Phil announced the twist that led to their survival.

Phil revealed he will be eliminating a team at some point in the final leg.
