'Survivor: Thailand' to reach Australian viewers

The Melbourne Herald Sun reports that the current American production of Survivor: Thailand (Survivor 5) will be aired on Australian Channel 9 starting on Thursday, October 17. Additional episodes will be shown on Saturday, October 19 -- so the Australian and American schedules will be synchonized from then on.

Australians were some of the most enthusiastic fans of Survivor: The Australian Outback (Survivor 2) and Survivor: Africa (Survivor 3). However, Survivor: Marquesas (Survivor 4) was not shown in Oz, because Channel 9 was producing and airing its own Australian Survivor.

Unfortunately, like many of the Survivor shows made worldwide without Mark Burnett's direction, Australian Survivor was a ratings disappointment, and so Channel 9 has decided to return to the previously-successful American series.
