The 27-year-old actress shared details about her early romance with the 33-year-old former "The Bachelorette" bachelor while appearing on Tuesday's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
"[We met through] the Internet," she told host Jimmy Kimmel. "Have you seen those memes of 'Slide into the DMs'? That. He slid into my DMs."
Hyland said she started following Adams after she saw him serve as the bartender on "Bachelor in Paradise." Adams was a fan of Hyland's show "Modern Family" and struck up a conversation with the actress.
"We had, like, tweeted each other because I thought he was funny and he was a fan of the show," Hyland recalled.
"I was single and I thought, this is really awesome. I was like, 'You're being very forward and it's sexy and not aggressive, but confident and sexy,'" she said of Wells' message. "[He was like], 'Next time I'm in L.A. I'm taking you out for drinks and tacos.'"
Hyland and Wells were first linked in October after celebrating Halloween together.
The actress praised Adams in an Instagram post this month for thinking it's "sexy" when "a woman speaks her mind."
"Very proud to be with a man that thinks it's sexy when a woman speaks her mind and stands up for herself," she wrote. "Which, in my opinion, is VERY sexy @wellsadams."
