Pauly Shore hopes 'Minding the Store' show will change his image

UPI News Service, 08/13/2005

Pauly Shore says he hopes his reality series, "Minding the Store," will lead to the mature acting roles that have, thus far, eluded him.

The 1990s film star and MTV personality told United Press Interanational he thinks it was his trendy, youthful persona in movies like "Son In Law" and "Encino Man," and on the cable TV show, "Totally Pauly," that made him all but unemployable when he was in his late 20s and early 30s.

He said he thinks the reality show he created will revive his mother's famed club, "The Comedy Store," while also giving people the opportunity to see him in a different light.

"And maybe they see this and think I'm more of an offbeat, everyday man, almost like 'Seinfeld': a straight man on the show with all these wackos around me," he said.

The series finale of "Minding the Store" is scheduled to air Sunday night on TBS.
