Painful shoulder causes Ozzy Osbourne to cancel royal performance
UPI News Service, 12/14/2004
Rocker Ozzy Osbourne withdrew from Tuesday's Royal Variety Performance because of a painful plate in his shoulder from a year-old accident, the BBC reported.
Osbourne's wife, Sharon, and daughter, Kelly, were to send his apologies at the performance in front of Prince Charles at the London Coliseum. It was to be Osbourne's only live appearance in Britain this year, BBC said.
Sir Elton John and Liza Minnelli also were on tap for the show to be aired Wednesday.
Osbourne was seriously injured in a so-called "quad" bike accident last year that required a metal plate in his shoulder. That area is the one now in pain, and additional surgery is required, a spokesman for his record company told the BBC.
