The New York Post reported that both reality programs will be filmed on location in Hawaii and will follow in the footsteps of MTV regular "Laguna Beach" by being taped in the style of a scripted TV drama.

"Island Fever" will focus on a group of young Hawaiian natives whose daily encounters with the locale's numerous visiting tourists strains their friendship.

Meanwhile, "Living Lahaina" will follow a similar format by following the lives of Lahiana Maui surfing instructors and their exploits at the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy.

The paper said that both new reality programs could make their debuts on MTV in early 2007.
