Following a year-long separation, the couple has decided to end their relationship and split.

"After 27 years of marriage, it is with great sadness that we have come to the difficult decision to file for divorce," Amy and Matt said in a joint Friday statement obtained by Us Weekly.

"We are proud of what we have accomplished together, including raising four wonderful children who have grown to become remarkable adults and building our strong and ongoing successful business."

The pair said their four children and growing family will remain their priority, as they'll always love and support them.

"We will continue to work together side by side in the daily responsibilities for our many current ventures," Amy and Matt continued in their statement. "We would like to thank our family, friends and all our fans for their continued support and understanding during this difficult time."

Amy and Matt announced in March 2014 they were going to be living apart while still running the family farm in Oregon and co-parenting. The couple reportedly admitted on their TLC reality show the separation was long and tough -- but necessary because there was a lot of tension in their home.

Amy, according to Us, did not make the choice for Matt to move into the guest house at the time they had decided to take a break. In fact, she was saddened by it.

In September, the couple put up a united front at their son Jeremy's wedding to Audrey Mirabella Botti in Hillsboro, OR.
