"I wasn't supposed to be back this season... things have obviously changed," Hough toldEntertainment Tonight following Tuesday night's live Dancing with the Stars eighth-season results show that saw her survive another week with celebrity partner and real-life boyfriend Chuck Wicks.
Despite her current participation, Hough said she still plans to sit-out the fall edition of the ABC reality series.
"I'm in the middle of writing for my new record and I really want to focus on that," she told Entertainment Tonight. "That's my passion, and going out and touring with George Strait is my priority."
Hough won the Top New Artist and Top New Female Vocalist categories at Sunday night's 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards and told Entertainment Tonight that while she's focused on "making that record that's really Julianne Hough" -- she won't completely cut Dancing with the Stars out of her life.
"I'll come back and do guest spots and dances on the show," she said. "Of course I'll be back."
