JoJo Fletcher has explained why she decided to give Evan Bass the Group Date rose after he gave her an ultimatum on Monday night's episode of The Bachelorette.

Due to the fact Bass had been threatened by Chad Johnson and nearly began fearing for his life in the house, the erectile dysfunction specialist told Fletcher she had to choose between them. Bass' bold demand meant he'd quit the show if Fletcher decided to keep Johnson around.

However, Fletcher wasn't ready to send one of the two guys home yet, so she offered Bass the Group Date rose in the hope he'd accept it and stay for the sake of their relationship, despite Johnson's continued presence.

"I appreciated Evan's honesty, but was also disheartened when he gave me an ultimatum," Fletcher wrote in her People blog. "I'm not great with ultimatums. Is anyone?"

Fletcher "truly felt" she "needed more time" with both Bass and Johnson.

"But before I moved forward with anything, I wanted to make sure Evan felt comfortable remaining in this journey along side Chad. After speaking with him a second time, he decided to stick it out, and I couldn't have been happier with his choice," Fletcher revealed.

"Evan, a father [of three], gave up so much to do this and to come meet me. That's sacrifice. I decided to give him the rose to prove to him just how invested I was in seeing where our relationship could go."

Johnson was absolutely shocked Fletcher gave Bass a rose, telling the cameras that girls wouldn't choose Bass for anything except maybe to sweep their front yard.

Much more is to come when The Bachelorette's special two-night event continues Tuesday at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
