Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart reportedly have split after more than two years together.

"It has actually been an amicable process that started a few months ago," a Lopez insider told Us Weekly.

"It wasn't an easy decision, but they decided to stay friends... Their relationship couldn't work with the distance. He started trying to establish his own life and career, and she is so focused on hers, and they just couldn't be all about each other anymore."

The American Idol judge, 44, is reportedly "doing fine" because she's been "so focused on promoting the album." According to the insider, both Lopez and the 27-year-old backup dancer-turned choreographer are "in a good place now."

Rumors have circulated in recent weeks that Smart had cheated on Lopez with a transgender model he allegedly met online and had been exchanging messages and photos with via Instagram. However, multiple sources have claimed that's not the case.

A source close to the couple told Us the story is "100 percent not true," while the Lopez insider said, "The scandal had nothing to do with it. He insists none of that is true and she believes him."

Smart texting a transsexual is actually "laughable," another source told TMZ, adding that the dancer is "not that guy."

Smart is reportedly in the process of moving out of his shared home with Lopez but can take his time because Lopez has been on tour promoting her tenth album entitled AKA.

Smart now plans to pursue acting, TMZ reported.

Reports surfaced in April that Lopez was trying to dump Smart because she just wasn't into him anymore. A source had told OK! Weekly at the time she was "bored" with Smart and has "a pattern of loving and leaving."

Lopez and Smart appeared to begin dating back in November 2011, which was only four months after the "I Luh Ya Papi" singer had split from Marc Anthony, her third ex-husband. Lopez and Anthony share two children together, six-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Prior to Anthony, Lopez had wed and divorced Ojani Noa and Cris Judd. She also had high-profile relationships with rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs and actor Ben Affleck, whom she had been engaged to.

It has yet to be confirmed whether Lopez will return to judge American Idol's upcoming fourteenth season although she is expected to. She sat on the judging panel for Idol's tenth, eleventh and thirteenth editions. Lopez took Season 12 off last year to focus on her music career.
