Former 'Dancing' star Mario Lopez queues up for 'A Chorus Line'

U.S. actor and television personality Mario Lopez said he is ready to make his Broadway debut in the stage musical "A Chorus Line."

Lopez is best known for his work on the 1990s teen sit-com "Saved by the Bell," as well as for his fancy footwork on TV's "Dancing With the Stars."

He is to give his first performance as the director-choreographer Zach in "A Chorus Line" Tuesday, the New York Daily News said.

"I'm ready to go," Lopez, 34, told the newspaper. "I'm all good."

The entertainer said he thinks the part is a good one for him since "Zach is very focused, so am I."

"I love that the show is so iconic and such a strong ensemble piece," Lopez said. "And that it's got so many great messages. You don't have to be in show business to relate to the idea of striving for a dream."

Although Zach dances at the beginning and end of the show, he doesn't sing a solo, the Daily News noted.

"I can carry a tune, but that's it," Lopez admitted. "I'm not a dancer, I'm an actor who moves OK. But I'm a pretty quick learner. I work really hard."
