Florida police release tape of Anna Nicole Smith 911 call for help

UPI News Service, 02/13/2007

Hollywood, Fla., police Tuesday released the 911 tape for Anna Nicole Smith in which Smith was said to be "not breathing and not responsive."

The call came from Seminole tribal police, which received the initial call from Smith's hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the Miami Herald said. The tribal police are in charge of the investigation.

On the tape, a woman said, "We need assistance to Room 607 at the Hard Rock. It's in reference to a white female. She's not breathing and not responsive ... actually it's Anna Nicole Smith."

The call came in to the Hollywood communications system at 1:42 p.m. Thursday and emergency medical personnel arrived at the hotel about six minutes later, officials said.

Smith was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A preliminary autopsy was inconclusive about the cause of death.

Capt. Tony Rode, a Hollywood, Fla., police spokesman, said the department released this portion of the emergency tape because it did not interfere with the investigation. The Seminole agency did not object.

The Seminole police department has not released its tape of the initial 911 call from the hotel.
