The retired NFL quarterback and Karina received the lowest combined total of judges' scores and home viewer votes cast following the last two weeks of performance shows, including the "Switch-Up Week." Doug and Karina tended to land towards the bottom of the judges' leaderboard every week of the Season 22 competition.

"[Dancing with the Stars was] just an amazing experience, dancing with Karina. As a family, we've all been together and it's been an unbelievable experience. Thank you all so much," Doug said following his ouster.

"[I'm] so proud," Karina added. "Amazing season. I had an opportunity to... make a great friend."

The other two couples who were in jeopardy of elimination happened to be UFC fighter Paige VanZant and partner Mark Ballas as well as NFL player and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and partner Witney Carson.

Monday night's broadcast featured nine celebrity and professional pairings each performing a routine for "Famous Dances Night."

Boyz II Men member Wanya Morris and partner Lindsay Arnold topped the judges' leaderboard in first place after they received 29 out of 30 points -- which included two 10's -- from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman. The couple performed a jazz routine inspired by the "Bye, Bye, Bye" performance done by 'N SYNC at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

Paige and Mark finished in second place on the judges' leaderboard with 28 total points. They danced a jazz routine mimicking the opening scene of Austin Powers.

NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown and partner Sharna Burgess claimed third place with 27 points after they danced a jive inspired by the movie Footloose.

Fourth place was a tie at 25 points between America's Next Top Model winner Nyle DiMarco and fellow celebrity Jodie Sweetin from Fuller House.

Nyle and partner Peta Murgatroyd performed a quickstep, playing the characters from the movie The Mask. Jodie and partner Keo Motsepe took the stage with a contemporary routine inspired by Pink's "Try" dance from her music video.

Sixth place turned out to be a three-way tie at 24 points for the following couples: Von Miller and Witney, Good Morning America meteorologist Ginger Zee and partner Val Chmerkovskiy, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Fields and partner Sasha Farber.

Von Miller and Witney danced a jazz routine to Michael Jackson's song "Bad." Ginger and Val also performed a jazz routine to Janet Jackson's famous music video "Nasty." Kim and Sasha took the stage with a jive inspired by the big-screen version of Hairspray.

Doug and Karina landed in ninth -- and last -- place on the judges' leaderboard. The pair earned only 21 points for a Bollywood routine inspired by the movie Slumdog Millionaire. However, it was Doug and Karina's best dance of the season.
