Samantha Harris is going to miss her first few days of work when Dancing with the Stars' fifth season premieres, but she has a good excuse.

The Dancing with the Stars co-host and husband Michael Hess welcomed their first child together over the weekend, E! News reported Sunday.  Josselyn Sydney Hess was born Sunday at 1:49AM weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.

"Michael and I are ecstatic to have a little girl to welcome into our lives," Harris told E! News.  "We can't wait to introduce her to our family and our friends in the morning!"

Harris had announced she was pregnant with her first child during a fourth-season broadcast and said she was due in early October.

Dancing with the Stars 5 is scheduled to debut over the course of three consecutive nights beginning with a 90-minute performance episode on Monday, September 24 at 8PM ET/PT. When ABC announced the show's fifth-season cast last month, Harris told People she had originally planned to be there "for the beginning of the season for a week or two, maybe three, have the baby and maybe be gone for two, three, four weeks."

However Josselyn's early arrival has thrown a kink in that plan and ABC is keeping mum about who will replace the 33-year-old Harris for Dancing with the Stars 5's first several broadcasts.

"They told me we'll just have to wait and see," Shara Koplowitz, Harris' publicist, told The Associated Press on Sunday.  "It's a surprise."
