'Dancing with the Stars' champ Cheryl Burke dating Matthew Lawrence

By Christopher Rocchio, 02/15/2007

Cheryl Burke helped eliminate Joey Lawrence during the third season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars -- and now the 22-year-old two-time champion of the ABC reality competition series is reportedly dating Joey's little brother Matthew.

"[Matt and Burke] are definitely together," a friend of Burke's told People in a report published on the magazine's website on Thursday.  "Cheryl is very happy."

According to People, The couple met during filming for the third season of Dancing with the Stars, which pitted Burke and Emmitt Smith -- the eventual winners -- against Joey and Edyta Sliwinska, who finished in third place.  However Matt and Burke reportedly "didn't get involved" until the Dancing with the Stars tour

During a wrap party at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa following the tour's last stop at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ on Monday night, People reported Matt and Burke were seen "getting cozy."

"Matt and Cheryl were dancing close in the VIP area to a few songs and to [Justin Timberlake's] 'What Comes Around,'" an "onlooker" told People.  According to another source, Burke had champagne, strawberries and a cake reading "Happy Birthday Matt" sent to her suite at Borgata on Sunday -- Matt's 27th birthday.

"It's early days," Burke's friend told People.  "But I don't think I've ever seen Cheryl this happy."

Burke and former 98 Degrees member Drew Lachey were crowned champs of the second season of Dancing with the Stars, and the two-time Emmy-nominated professional dancer continued her winning ways last season when she took home the title with Smith, a former Dallas Cowboys running back.  She did not compete in the reality competition series' first season.
