The 21-year-old reality star's rep confirmed Stodden recently suffered a miscarriage in a statement to news outlets Sunday.

Stodden was pregnant and expecting her first child with husband Doug Hutchison.

"It is with a heavy heart to inform you that last week Courtney Stodden suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage," the star's manager, Gina Rodriguez, said.

"Courtney and her husband, Doug, are at an emotional loss for words and are using this time to grieve with their close family and friends," she added. "Please respect their privacy as the couple try to cope with losing their precious baby and seek the support they both need."

Stodden alluded to her loss early Sunday morning by tweeting, "I love you my sweet angel. God is embracing you."

The star had announced she was expecting in May and later admitted her depression had worsened since becoming pregnant.

"I suffer from depression," she revealed to Us Weekly at the time. "My depression affects my appetite, sleeping patterns and overall perspective on life."

"I already love this baby so much," the star said. "I just fear the thought of motherhood. It's such an overwhelming responsibility and I want to be the very best mommy that I can possibly be."

Stodden was just 16 years old when she married Hutchison, then 50, in 2011.

She and the actor, who is known for "Lost" and "24," subsequently appeared on the reality series "Celebrity Big Brother" and "Couples Therapy."
