Hightower has revealed she will not be part of the reality dance competition's sixteenth edition when it premieres on ABC next month.

"I'm not on -- I can't say," she reluctantly told a TMZ photographer on Saturday night when asked to confirm she would be part of the upcoming season's cast.

"No, no, no, not my choice," Hightower added when the photographer suggested she was following in the footsteps of fellow professional dancer partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy and quitting the show. "Sometimes we take breaks, seasons off."

"So you're leaving for a year and you're coming back?" the photographer asked.

"For a season," Hightower clarified.

"You just told me something you probably shouldn't have told me," the photographer noted.

"Yeah," Hightower replied with a laugh.

ABC will officially announce Dancing with the Stars' sixteenth-season cast on Tuesday and the competition will premiere March 18.

Hightower, a former So You Think You Can Dance contestant, joined Dancing with the Stars in 2009 when she competed with professional bull rider Ty Murray on the show's eighth season.

She subsequently competed with professional snowboarder Louie Vito (Season 9), The Bachelor star Jake Pavelka (Season 10), singer Michael Bolton (Season 11), and rapper Romeo (Season 12).

After skipping Dancing with the Stars' thirteenth season which aired in Fall 2011, she returned to compete with Disney Channel star Roshon Fegan on Season 14 and Helio Castroneves on last fall's inaugural All-Stars edition.
