Bravo is expanding its The Real Housewives reality franchise yet again.
"We're tapping personalities who are among Washington D.C.'s influential players, cultural connoisseurs, fashion sophisticates and philanthropic leaders -- the people who rub elbows with the most prominent people in the country and easily move in the city's diverse political and social circles," Bravo Media general manager Frances Berwick announced Tuesday.
The Real Housewives of D.C. will be the fifth The Real Housewives series. The Real Housewives of Orange County, the franchise's original edition, premiered in 2006. Bravo has since launched three spinoff series -- The Real Housewives of New York City which debuted in Spring 2008, The Real Housewives of Atlanta which debuted in Fall 2008, and The Real Housewives of New Jersey, which premiered earlier this month. Bravo has tapped Half Yard Productions, a production company based in Bethesda, MD, to develop The Real Housewives of D.C. (Although they share a common franchise branding, each The Real Housewives series is produced independently by a different production company). Half Yard's previous credits include TLC's Say Yes to The Dress and Discovery Channel's American Loggers, Some Assembly Required and Weapon Masters series. |
