Bachelor in Paradise fans saw Evan Bass and Carly Waddell's engagement coming from a mile away, but Waddell apparently did not!

Waddell and Bass fell deeply in love towards the end of their journey on Bachelor in Paradise's third season.

While Waddell hoped she had found the man of her dreams -- and they'd live "happily EVAN after," she actually had no idea the erectile dysfunction specialist was going to propose when the finale filmed in June.

"No, I really didn't," Waddell insisted to E! News.

"He was messing with me the night before and was like, 'You know what? A proposal is a big deal. I don't know if I'm ready.' And I was like, 'Listen, if you propose tomorrow or in six months or a year from now, like, my answer will be the same. I'm going to say yes either way.'"

Bass admitted his little act was all a scheme so the country singer could be surprised at the final Rose Ceremony in Mexico.

"I wanted you to be shocked! I wanted you to be like, '[Whoa]!'" Bass explained.

"Until he got down [on one knee] and said, 'I want you to be my wife' -- I was like, 'What?! Yes!' But I didn't know!" Waddell elaborated.

In true Bass fashion, considering he's unique and owns his "weird" traits, he asked Waddell in Paradise after a beautiful speech, "Will you freaking marry me?"

"You would think that I'd go out there knowing, but it shocked me, honestly," Waddell told E! News. "He did a good job!"

Bass then sweetly replied, "Thank you."

Since getting engaged, Waddell has slowly been moving her belongings into Bass' home in Nashville, TN. He joked that Waddell has "taken over" his condo.

"I've like slowly progressively moved in with him, with him knowing but sort of without him knowing," Waddell said with a laugh, revealing that curling irons are in his place as well as her puppy.

"Actually, when we went to pick [the dog] up, he wouldn't talk to me for like an hour. It was the biggest fight we've ever had."

Waddell has also met Bass' three sons -- Nathan, 15, Liam, 11 and Ensley, 8 -- with whom she apparently gets along fabulously.

"They know that I can't cook, and they still accept me," Waddell confessed of the kids.

"They just adore her," Bass confirmed.
