ABC to debut celebrity-themed 'The Superstars' revival on June 23

ABC has announced TheSuperstars, its celebrity-themed revival of Superstars, an all-around sports competition that featured famous athletes competing in different sporting events to determine the best athlete in the world, will premiere Tuesday, June 23 at 8PM ET/PT. Superstars originally premiered as part of ABC's Wide World of Sports program in 1973, and ABC ordered its celebrity-themed revival of the show in January. The Superstars will pair eight celebrities with a professional athlete before the teams compete against each other in various sporting events including swimming, biking, running, kayaking and other head-to-head athletic challenges that will test strength, speed, stamina, agility and strategy.
One team will be eliminated each week until a winner is crowned in the finale.
The six-episode series was filmed entirely on location at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
The Superstars is produced by Juma Entertainment and Blue Entertainment Sports Television.
In addition to The Superstars, ABC also announced Wipeout's second season will premiere Wednesday, May 27 at 8PM ET/PT; Here Comes the Newlyweds' second season will debut Monday, May 25 at 10PM ET/PT; and I Survived a Japanese Game Show's second season will premiere Wednesday, July 8 at 9PM ET/PT.
ABC also plans to debut Dating in the Dark, a new reality dating series that will follow single men and women as they go through all the usual motions of dating without ever actually seeing each other, on Monday, July 20 at 10PM ET/PT.
The network had previously revealedThe Bachelorette's fifth season, which will star Jason Mesnick's former The Bachelor suitor Jill Harris, will premiere on Monday, May 18 at 9PM ET/PT.
