ABC has confirmed it has changed the name of its previously announced Dance X reality competition show to Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann and announced September casting call dates and locations for the new Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba-fronted series.
Tonioli and Inaba will then teach their respective teams new routines from numerous dance styles. Once the teams start performing, home viewers will have the opportunity to vote whether Tonioli or Inaba's Dance War team did better each week. The losing coach will then have to eliminate a member of his or her troupe based on viewer votes.
Instead of airing weekly performance and results shows, Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann will -- similar to how ABC handled Dancing with the Stars' first season -- broadcast voting results at the beginning of each week's episode. ABC also confirmed Dancing with the Stars' second-season celebrity champ Drew Lachey will host Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann, which is currently scheduled to air six live one-hour episodes this winter. Tonioli and Inaba will attend open casting calls scheduled this September in Nashville, Los Angeles and New York, looking for what ABC described as "talented female and male amateur performers who can sing and dance."
