Unlike their hands-off judging roles on Dancing with the Stars, Tonioli and Inaba will serve as Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann's coaches and choreographers, with each will choosing contestants who can both dance and sing to join their respective teams -- "Team Bruno" and "Team Carrie Ann."
Tonioli and Inaba will then teach their respective teams new routines from numerous dance styles. Once the teams start performing, home viewers will have the opportunity to vote whether Tonioli or Inaba's Dance War team did better each week. The losing coach will then have to eliminate a member of his or her troupe based on viewer votes.
Instead of airing weekly performance and results shows, Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann will -- similar to how ABC handled Dancing with the Stars' first season -- broadcast voting results at the beginning of each week's episode.
Tonioli and Inaba will attend open casting calls scheduled this September in Nashville, Los Angeles and New York, looking for what ABC described as "talented female and male amateur performers who can sing and dance."
Upcoming casting call dates and locations for Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann are:
Saturday, September 15 Tennessee State Fair 500 Wedgewood Ave. Nashville, TN 37203 8AM ET
Saturday, September 22 The Santa Monica Pier - North Parking Lot 1550 Palisades Beach Rd. Santa Monica, CA 90401 8AM PT
Saturday, September 29 Central Park - Wollman Ice Rink 830 5th Avenue New York, NY 10021 8AM ET
