A&E has announced Keyshawn Johnson: Tackling Design, a new reality series that will follow the retired NFL star as he tests his skills as an interior designer, will premiere Saturday, July 11 at 12PM ET/PT.
Each half-hour episode of Keyshawn Johnson: Tackling Design will find Johnson attempting to make a name for himself in the world of interior design by trying to impress different clients. Johnson will undertake all aspects of an interior design project -- from furniture and flooring to finishings and fabric.
Johnson's design team will include assistants Sabina Vavra and Baiyina Hughley and interns Chelsea Hernandez and Edward S. Larsen.
"Style and design has always played a big part in my life and lifestyle," said Johnson. "I'm excited to bring a quality aesthetic to all types of households in the show, and help influence the way people live."
Johnson spent 11 years as an NFL wide receiver. He won a Super Bowl Championship during the 2002-2003 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring in 2007. He currently works as an ESPN analyst.
"Keyshawn is known for his skills on the field, but many will be surprised by his talent as an interior designer," said A&E programming executive Robert Sharenow. "Documenting his process as he attempts to get his own business off the ground fits perfectly with our unique brand of real life drama."
A&E ordered the 11-episode series in November, and it is being produced for A&E by Screen Door Entertainment, with Joe Rizor and Alessandra Ascoli serving as executive producers.
