90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days star Ed Brown, who admits he never watched 90 Day Fiance before, has revealed how he was cast on Season 4 of the TLC reality spinoff.

Ed, a 54-year-old photographer from San Diego, CA, and Rosemarie Vega, a 23-year-old from the Philippines, are an unlikely couple due to their age gap and the distance between them, and so when TLC got ahold of Ed, it was apparently a no-brainer for the network to feature his romance on the show.

When asked how he ended up on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days' fourth season, Ed told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview, "First of all, I never heard of the show."

"All I did was I fell in love with a girl on Facebook, bought a ticket and posted that online," Ed shared.

"And I just started to get millions of messages -- or hundreds of messages -- you know, 'Are you doing 90 Day?' And I'm like, 'No, what is that?!' My buddy Rich sent me a link. I filled it out and within two hours, I was on the phone with casting."

"And the rest is history," Ed added. "And here I am."

When asked what he believes made him a good fit for the TLC franchise, Ed acknowledged that was "a very good question."

"I don't consider myself very attractive. I'm not tall. I can't believe this girl is in love with me," said Ed, who is 4'11" tall.

"I just wanted to tell my story. I just wanted to be real. Because I do crazy things all the time. I'm a gamer, so I fall asleep while gaming with all of these people around the world, and people start following me."

Ed explained he's "a natural goof," which makes for some entertaining television, and he's "always been able to laugh at myself. You have to."

Given 90 Day Fiance has a huge fanbase, Ed prepared himself for criticism, trolls and haters.

"Other than my daughter hanging up on me -- and she didn't speak to me for a whole month -- and a lot of pushback from my mom and all my friends, they were like, 'Ed, this is not a good idea. Your life is going to be exposed,'" Ed dished to ET.

"And at first, I was very hesitant, but I was in love. This wasn't about the show; this was about me going to meet the love of my life. I was single for 28 years and I was open to love again, and then I'm on TV... It was surreal. It was absolutely surreal."

Ed -- who has been teased all of his life and called "no neck" -- admitted he was "literally in a panic" once 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days premiered because of what he read online.

However, Ed realized he was able to touch and relate to some people who also deal with insecurities over looking a little bit different, and that gave him the drive to continue sharing his story and the confidence boost he needed.

"I'm different and it's okay to be different," Ed noted.

Ed and Rose were shown meeting in-person for the first time in the Philippines on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days' fourth season after Ed flew over 17 hours to meet her in person.

"I think I have an amazing personality, but I know I'm not attractive. Rose is most definitely out of my league," Ed told the cameras, adding it was an "out-of-body experience" to see Rose face-to-face.

Rose confessed she had expected Ed to be taller or at least her own height, and she called him "really big," but she still found her man attractive and thought everything was going to be okay.

Ed's plan was to return to America as an engaged man, but he and Rose still had a lot to learn about each other, especially since Rose continued to dodge questions about her past and prior romantic relationships.

After spending their first night together in a hotel but sleeping in separate beds, Ed and Rose planned to enjoy a day of shopping in a local marketplace in Manila. However, the extreme heat and Rose's "borderline inappropriate" use of Ed's wallet and money resulted in a disastrous outing.

Later that day, Ed could tell Rose was tired of him asking about her past, so while eating at a restaurant, Ed admitted he'd be willing to drop the topic of her dating history forever if she'd take an STD test for him to give him peace of mind.

Rose appeared shocked by Ed's request and told him, "I'm disappointed," before venting to the cameras, "I feel hurt. My heart crack."

Ed explained he needed some reassurance he could trust Rose and that she didn't sleep around, but Rose cried and was angry at Ed for seemingly viewing her as "an easy girl" rather than his beloved girlfriend.

When put on the spot again, Rose explained that her son Prince's father was a bachelor who moved on after their fling, got married and welcomed a child with someone else.

Rose said she had met Prince's father four years prior and had two serious relationships in her past, adding that both men had hurt her.

Rose insisted she wanted to be alone and away from Ed, so Ed offered to book her a hotel room near his own hotel to ensure she'd be safe before returning to her village.

"I don't know [what just happened]. But I do not believe in love," Ed told the cameras as Rose walked away from him.

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days currently airs on Sunday nights at 8PM ET/PT on TLC.
